Parasites

I wanted to share some thoughts on a pressing issue in today's digital landscape that affects us all— the erosion of respect for intellectual property rights, particularly in the video and audio domains.
We are witnessing an era where even our highest legal systems seem to overlook the unauthorized use of intellectual property. Recent comments by public figures like Donald Trump further illustrate this troubling trend. While artists like Andy Warhol pushed boundaries, they also recognized the importance of obtaining consent and respecting rights as their work evolved.
In today's digital age, however, original creators often face blatant disrespect. The prevailing attitude seems to be that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, with platforms like Spotify and YouTube offering content at low or no cost. This has led to a consumer mindset expecting free access without understanding or valuing the initial contractual agreements that protect artists' livelihoods.
It's disheartening when fans demand free content without considering the effort and investment behind it. Artists depend on their craft for a living, and they deserve fair compensation. The notion that successful artists have "earned enough" does not justify breaking contracts or exploiting their work freely.
Moreover, we see a disturbing trend where major companies bypass contractual obligations by releasing films or recordings without informing or compensating involved artists properly. These practices force creators into costly legal battles just to uphold their rights.
The entertainment industry must address these injustices and ensure that creators receive due recognition and remuneration for their work. It's time we advocate for fair practices that respect intellectual property rights.
